where to begin

You don't need to have everything figured out before we begin. Some people come to me with a list of things they want help accomplishing. Others just know they're overwhelmed and need someone to help them figure out what comes next. We can start wherever you are. Nothing we create together is set in stone. Your priorities, wishes, relationships, health, and needs may change. Our plan can change with you.

Who can be involved?

You decide who is included in meetings, communication, calendars, summaries, and planning whenever you are able to make those decisions yourself. That might include a spouse or partner, children, parents, friends, caregivers, a social worker, or other members of your care team. Some of my clients have a whole circle of people surrounding them, while others are navigating much of this on their own. Both are okay. You don't need a large support system to work with me, and you don't have to involve anyone you don't want involved. Whether we're coordinating with a room full of people or it's just you and me figuring out what comes next, you don't have to do it all alone.

When should I get help?

One of the first questions people ask me is, “When would I start a service like this? How close to death do I need to be?”

The simple answer is: you don't have to wait until death is imminent to ask for support.

A terminal diagnosis, a significant change in health, or the realization that you or someone you love may be approaching the end of life is enough reason to reach out. You don't need to know exactly how much time remains, and you don't need to wait until things become overwhelming.

Prognoses are estimates, not expiration dates. Someone may be told they have six months to a year to live and still be here two years later. Others may experience changes much more quickly than anyone anticipated. That's one reason I don't believe support should depend on getting the timeline exactly right.

In fact, reaching out earlier can give us something incredibly valuable: time.

Time to talk about what matters to you. Time to make decisions without everything feeling urgent. Time to organize practical details, have difficult conversations, create memories, work on legacy projects, advocate for your wishes, and make more room for actually living.

And if death is already very near, it isn't too late to call either.

You don't need to decide whether you're “close enough” to the end of life before reaching out. If you're wondering whether support might help, we can start with a conversation and figure that out together.

What does This Beloved Life not do?

Death doula, end-of-life doula, transition guide, end-of-life coordinator—you may hear this work called by many different names. At its heart, an end-of-life doula provides non-medical, compassionate support to people approaching the end of life and the people who care about them.

My background as both a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified End-of-Life Doula allows me to bring a unique combination of professional experience and end-of-life training to this work. Depending on your needs and the services we have agreed upon, support may include emotional support, practical planning, advocacy, education, coordination, and help navigating the many conversations and decisions that can arise during this chapter of life.

There are also important boundaries to my role. Neither I nor members of my team provide medical care, legal advice, financial advice, or services that require a professional license or credential we do not hold. This Beloved Life is designed to complement—not replace—the professionals already involved in your care.

I can help you prepare questions, organize and understand information within my professional scope, advocate for the wishes you have expressed, communicate with the people you have chosen to involve, and connect or coordinate with other professionals when their expertise is needed.

And you don't have to know which professional handles every piece of this. If you're unsure whether something belongs with me, your physician, hospice team, attorney, funeral director, financial professional, or someone else, you can start by asking. Part of my role is helping you figure out where to go, who to ask, and what comes next.

What next?

This Beloved Life goes far beyond logistics.

Getting organized is only the beginning. Once some of the practical weight is lifted, we can turn our attention toward the things that make this chapter yours—relationships, experiences, legacy, comfort, meaning, celebration, and how you want your remaining life to feel.

You can explore my services and available packages to get an idea of the ways I can support you, but you don't need to know exactly what you need before reaching out. You don't need to have a plan, a list of questions, or even know where to begin.

That's what the consultation is for.

Reach out by phone, text, or email to schedule a consultation. We'll talk about where you are, what matters to you, and what support might make this chapter a little easier—and a lot more yours.

You don't have to have it all figured out. You just have to start the conversation.
